Honda announced the start of booking of the 2019 Honda Goldwing GL1800 DCT in India recently. The touring bike is available in a single variant, Tour. The new Gold Wing is underpinned by an new chassis that is lighter and stiffer than its predecessor while the suspension setup and brakes have been carried over from the 2018 model. The motorcycle gets ABS as standard. Powering the motorcycle is the 1833cc flat six-cylinder engine that has 4-valves per cylinder and is good enough for 126 HP of peak power and 170 Nm of peak torque. Throttle by wire has been added with 4 ride modes - Tour, Sport, ECON and Rain. These ride modes alter the engine's character and power delivery.
The motorcycle is loaded to the brim with features. It debuts Apple CarPlay on a motorcycle. It has a full-LED lighting system and a 7.0-inch color TFT display for the instrument cluster with navigation support. The windscreen can be adjusted electrically on the go as well. On the safety front, the motorcycle gets Hill Start Assist (HSA), Idling Stop and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). HSTC maintains rear wheel traction while the suspension damping and Combined Brake System (CBS) alter depending on the mode selected.
The highlight on the 2019 Honda Gold Wing is the DCT. The DCT (Dual Clutch Technology) features 7-speeds, with clutch feel, shift speed and RPM range of up/downshifts tailored specifically for each ride mode. It also has a creep function for both forward and backward motion, which allows the rider to slowly reverse the 349 kgs motorcycle.
The 2019 Honda Goldwing GL1800 DCT will be available in only one paint scheme at the time of launch, the Candy Ardent Red color. The motorcycle retails at Rs. 27.79 Lacs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
