Porsche has revealed a limited edition model namely '2022 Porsche 911 Edition 50 Years Porsche Design' to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Porsche Design. Based on the 911 Targa 4 GTS, the new model is limited to 750 units globally and features special aesthetic elements. Porsche Design was founded in 1972 by Ferdinand Alexander (F. A.) Porsche who is the designer of the 911 and son of Ferry Porsche. The 2022 Porsche 911 Edition 50 Years Porsche Design is expected to begin arriving in the United States of America by mid-March.
As for design, the limited edition model is finished in black as an acknowledgment of the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – the first all-black watch. The brake calipers are offered in high gloss black while a special “50 Years Porsche Design” badge is on the engine grille. Several exterior elements have been painted in Satin Platinum which include 20/21-inch center-locking 911 Turbo S wheels, the Targa bar and 'Porsche Design' logos on the doors. The cabin boasts of a silver numbered badge on the dashboard trim to indicate that this is a limited production vehicle. Moreover, the center console lid bears the signature of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche who is the founder of Porsche Design.
Inside the cabin, there are sport-tex seat centers with a checked pattern in Black and Cool Grey while headrests flaunt the 50 Years Porsche Design logo. In addition, there is a center marker on the GT Sport steering wheel in Slate Grey. Some of the notable features that differentiate the limited edition model from the standard 911 Targa 4 GTS are 18-way Adaptive Sport Seats Plus, seat belts in Slate Grey, and the Sport Chrono Package with Porsche Design Subsecond Clock. Additionally, the brand has also announced two new timepieces today: the Chronograph 1 – 911 50 Years of Porsche Design (free of cost with the limited edition), and the Chronograph 1 -1972 Limited Edition (priced at $7,700 which is roughly Rs 5.73 Lakhs). 2022 Porsche 911 Edition 50 Years Porsche Design price is $195,850 (Around Rs 1.46 Crores).

Mechanically, the 911 Edition 50 Years Porsche Design is powered by a 3.0L twin-turbo flat-six engine that is carried from the regular model, with top power of 473 bhp and peak torque of 570 Nm. The engine is linked to an eight-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) automatic transmission with the option for a seven-speed manual unit at no additional cost and Sport Exhaust. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+) is also included as standard with the eight-speed PDK, while the seven-speed manual transmission includes a mechanically locking rear differential (PTV). The standard Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive system also comes as a standard fitment.
