Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s biggest SUV manufacturer, has finally launched the much-awaited Thar Roxx SUV in the Indian market after teasing this model for months. The homegrown auto major has rolled out the five-door SUV at an introductory price of INR 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Thar Roxx is around INR 1.64 lakh more expensive than the outgoing 3-door Thar version. The five-door SUV is all set to take on the mid-compact SUV sector.
According to Rajesh Jejurikar, the CEO and Executive Director at Mahindra, the Thar Roxx launch date and price have been confirmed, and as of now, the company has no plans to export the new Mahindra Thar Roxx. The brand is aiming to drive more sales in the mid-compact SUV segment with its new product. The Thar Roxx launch booking date has been set for October 3, while test drives are scheduled to begin on September 14. Mahindra will start delivering the Thar Roxx on this Dussehra.

The 2024 Mahindra Thar Roxx comes equipped with the iconic boxy silhouette that the Thar SUV is known for. It houses a new body-colored 6-slat grille, tailgate-mounted spare wheel, LED headlights followed by C-shaped LED DRLs, and silver elements on the front bumper. The SUV rolls on 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and it has a metal roof that features a panoramic sunroof. The lower models also get a single-pane sunroof.

Inside the cabin, the Thar Roxx 5-door Thar sports a black and beige color theme. The SUV’s seats are all covered in white leatherette upholstery, whereas the dashboard features black leatherette padding and copper stitching. On the feature front, the new Thar comes equipped with a foldout centre armrest, ISOFIX child seat mounts on the sides, adjustable headrests, and three-point seatbelts.
For safety, the Thar Roxx five-door is loaded with climate control, connected car technology, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a 360-degree camera setup, six airbags as standard, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and more.
The Thar Roxx draws power from two engine options: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine. The 2.0-litre, four-cylinder mStallion turbo-petrol engine churns out a peak power of 160 bhp and a peak torque of 330 Nm. On the contrary, the 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, mHawk diesel engine is tuned to generate peak power of 150 bhp and 330 Nm of peak torque.
