Bajaj Auto India launched the world’s first-ever CNG motorcycle, the Freedom 125 CNG, in the Indian market on July 5, 2024. The CNG-powered bike is being offered at an introductory price of INR 95,000 (ex-showroom). The two-wheeler giant has now announced that it is planning to start exporting the new CNG motorcycle to international markets, including Bangladesh, Colombia, Egypt, Tanzania, Indonesia, and Peru. However, Bajaj has specified that it will initially focus on the Indian market, and once the motorcycle has solidified its position in the Indian market, it will be exported to other markets.

As of now, the sales for the Freedom 125 CNG bike have only started in Gujarat and Maharashtra. The 125 CNG bike will soon be available in the Delhi-NCR and Up regions, and these states have several CNG fuel stations, which will make adoption much easier. In the upcoming two to three months, the brand will speed up the production process with a capacity of 10,000 units per month. The Freedom 125 CNG motorcycle features a 2 kg CNG tank, which is placed beneath the 785 mm seat. It comes equipped with a 2-litre auxiliary petrol tank, integrated just ahead of the seat. Riders can switch between the two fuels by pressing a blue button integrated on the left side of the handlebar.

Powering the Freedom CNG is a 125-cc single-cylinder air-cooled CNG/petrol unit that churns out 9.4 bhp of power and 9.7 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed transmission. For active suspension, the Bajaj Freedom features a telescopic fork with a monoshock and fork gaiters. It features drum brakes on both ends, along with an optional disc brake up front.
