Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), India’s second-biggest car manufacturer, has recently launched the made-in-India Hyundai Exter in the South African market. The auto giant manufactures the Hyundai Exter in India for international markets. Recently, the brand exported the first batch of 996 Exter units to South Africa. Since 2004, Hyundai, one of the biggest car exporters from India, has been exporting models to South Africa.

After the Grand i10 Nios, i20 N Line, Aura, i20, Venue, pre-facelift Alcazar, and Venue N Line, the Hyundai Exter micro-SUV becomes the eighth model to be exported to South Africa. The Korean carmaker manufactures all these models at its Tamil Nadu facility. Hyundai is also celebrating its 20th export anniversary in South Africa. In the Indian market, the Hyundai Exter has been performing well for the company since its official launch in July 2023. Recently, the brand announced that it has bagged 1 lakh sales for the Exter in India.

Hyundai Exter Specifications

In South Africa, Hyundai is offering the made-in-India Exter SUV in three variants: Premium, Elite, and Executive. The Hyundai Exter prices in South Africa start from R 269600 and go up to R 334900. The made-in-India Hyundai Exter is packed with a host of advanced amenities that set it apart from other micro-SUVs in the segment. These features include stylish alloy wheels, projector headlights with LED DRLs, roof rails, and cladding.

Inside, the cabin is packed with an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, a touchscreen infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a USB charger, electric folding ORVMs, a rearview camera, and a dual-camera dash cam.

Under the bonnet, it draws power from a 1.2-litre petrol engine. The unit churns out a maximum power of 82 bhp at 6,000 rpm and torque of 113.8 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed AMT and 5-speed manual. The automatic version also features a segment-first paddle shifter.
