Hyundai India has announced that it will expand the electric vehicle line-up by launching 6 Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) in the country by 2028. The six Hyundai electric vehicles will be presented across different segments and body styles including SUV. In addition, the company will also introduce its dedicated BEV Platform E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) in the Indian market. The E-GMP will comprise of vehicle chassis that includes the battery, motor and power electric system while featuring a flat floor, slim cockpit and a flexible & spacious cabin.
The electric vehicles based on E-GMP will get a large battery capacity of up to 77.4 kWh with 2WD/ 4WD capabilities and capability to achieve a top speed of 260 kmph. Moreover, they will be developed using ultra high strength steel with 8-point battery mounting. Taking ahead the Indian Government's vision of electrification, Hyundai is working on a concrete BEV roadmap which will focus on localization of manufacturing synergies for Battery Electric Vehicles. The South-Korean brand will also develop BEV infrastructure in India by offering customer centric BEV charging solutions in the form of Home Charging, Public Charging station, Charging Facility at its dealerships and 24X7 road side assistance.
