The leading electric car manufacturer, JSW MG Motor India, has announced that it is all set to enter the 'accessible luxury' segment’ with four new electric cars. The new MG electric models will be launched in the Indian market in the next two years. For its premium electric cars, JSW MG Motor is now implementing a dual-channel retail strategy by establishing a distinct retail network called "MG Select."

JSW MG plans to establish an exclusive network of outlets where only luxury MG cars will be offered, similar to Maruti Suzuki's Nexa store. The new MG Select outlets will be deployed across 12 major Indian cities.

The 'MG Select' sales network is going to retail new energy vehicles (NEVs), including electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, hybrids, and more. The first vehicle from the MG Select retail network is scheduled to be launched in the first half of 2025. MG intends to introduce four high-end electric cars by the end of 2026. However, the names of the upcoming MG models have not been confirmed yet.

The MG Cyberster all-electric roadster is expected to be brought to the country as a fully assembled vehicle and is one of the upcoming MG models. JSW MG Motor is part of China’s SAIC Motor, which sells high-end EVs through other brands, including Maxus IM Motors (Intelligent Mobility) and Rising Auto.

The R7 coupe-SUV was showcased by MG at the Indonesia Auto Show in 2024. The MG R7 coupe is loaded with a 90-kWh battery. It has a certified range of up to 600 kilometres. The second runner-up for the Indian market, the high-end MIFA 9 electric MPV, was previously on display by MG at the Auto Expo 2023.

The Chief Growth Officer of JSW MG Motor India, Gaurav Gupta, said, “The traditional concept of 'purchasing' is evolving, with Indian consumers increasingly shifting towards accessible luxury. MG Select aims to position itself as a key player in this segment by offering an elevated brand experience to new-age customers, who aspire to premium brands. Infused with personalization and driven by innovation, the MG Select experience centres will offer a curated experience to customers, blending culture, hospitality, sustainability, innovation, and craftsmanship, and reimagining luxury.”
