The South Korean automaker Kia has announced that the Carens MPV has achieved a significant sales milestone of 1.5 lakh units in India. The automaker first introduced the Carens MPV in India in February 2022, and in just 27 months, the MPV has achieved this huge sales milestone. As of now, Carens is the brand’s flagship model in the country, along with Seltos and Sonet.

In the Indian market, the Kia Carens is priced between INR 10.52 lakh and INR 19.67 lakh (ex-showroom). The MPV comes equipped with a large sunroof, ventilated seating, multi-drive modes, and Kia Connect. It has five star safety ratings and provides turbo-petrol, diesel, and petrol engine options. In its segment, the Kia Carens rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta.

Kia revealed that the demand for petrol-powered Carens models has increased in the country, and 57 percent of customers opted for the petrol engine, whereas 43 percent of customers opted for the diesel. In addition, around 62 percent of buyers preferred the manual gearbox option. The brand has also updated the Carens MPV line-up several times. Recently, the 2024 Kia Carens X-Line variant was unveiled with new features. The company re-launched the six-seater version of the Carens earlier this year.

The Chief Sales and Business Officer at Kia India, Myung-sik Sohn, said, “Carens has become a favourite among Indian families, offering them style and peace of mind on every journey. It now accounts for approximately 15% of our monthly domestic sales, and we are confident that its popularity will only grow in the coming years. We remain deeply committed to bringing innovative and high-quality vehicles to our customers and are grateful for their continuous support.”
