Mahindra launched the Mojo UT300 sports touring bike in India with a lot of hope. However, the bike from Indian UV maker never performed well as far as sales are concerned. Now Mahindra is offering a major discount of Rs. 75,000 on Mojo. Yes, you read it right. The discount is only for Mahindra employees in India, and with this discount, the bike’s price is effectively halved in the market. Even if one is not a Mahindra employee, the company is still offering a slightly reduced discount of Rs. 60,000 on their sports tourer if one exchanges their two-wheeler at the time of purchase. Those not exchanging their old two-wheeler for the Mojo will still get a cash discount of Rs. 40,000 on their purchase. Therefore, the offer has something for everyone. Considering the price of the bike, and the package it offers, the discount offer makes it a more than value-for-money deal.

However, there is another caveat on the major discounts being offered on the Mahindra Mojo UT300. The discounts are applicable only on the models that were manufactured in the year 2018. The status of Mahindra Mojo UT300’s current manufacture remains unclear. The sales of Mojo have never been as per the company’s expectations and if the production of the bike is being stopped, it could mean that the brand will discontinue the sports tourer in the market. The sales of Mojo were never exciting and even when the company resorted to cost-cutting and brought out the more affordable UT300 variant, the bike did not gain popularity and the sales continued to plunge.

Talking of the package on offer on Mahindra’s sports tourer, Mojo UT300 comes equipped with a 295cc single-cylinder, DOHC, 4-valve motor. Unlike the more expensive Mojo, the UT300 variant comes with a carburetor instead of fuel-injection engine of the more expensive Mojo. Mojo UT300 is rated to deliver a maximum output of 22.5 Bhp and 25.2 Nm. The transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox. Weighing in at 163 kilograms, the Mojo UT300 also gets liquid-cooling for the engine.

As already mentioned, Mahindra resorted to cost-cutting to make the Mojo more affordable and replaced the USD forks on Mojo to bring telescopic front forks on UT300. Other changes on the stripped-down model of Mojo were replacing the Pirelli Diablo Rosso II with MRF tyres for UT300. These cost-cutting measures allowed Mahindra to price the UT300 version of Mojo at Rs. 1.49 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi. This meant that the UT300 was Rs. 21,000 cheaper than the more loaded Mojo. Now with the company offering such major discounts on the bike, it would be wrong to not seriously consider the Mojo UT300 as an option when buying a bike for long-distance touring.
