BS6 Mahindra TUV300 Plus Facelift likely to be launched towards the end of this year

  • Mahindra TUV300 Plus Facelift Patent Image Leaked Ahead of Launch

Mahindra & Mahindra launched the TUV300 back in 2015. The SUV performed fairly well in the Indian market. However, it failed to match up with its competitors’ success in the sub-4-metre SUV segment. Nevertheless, in 2018 the company decided to give a mid-cycle update to the SUV. Now it is likely to launch the TUV300 Plus Facelift towards the end of this year. The SUV will also get a BS6 update. Recently, a patent image of the facelifted TUV300 was leaked online. The image gives us a fair idea as to what the model could look like.

According to this image, it is clear that the front fascia is newly designed. It gets a bold vertical slat grille along with Mahindra logo present right in the centre. Below the grille, there is a new wider air-intake with a honeycomb pattern. Then we can also make out a new set of headlamps with integrated DRLs, redesigned bumpers, horizontally-positioned fog lamp housings, and roof rails. No changes have been made to the boxy silhouette of the TUV300 Plus Facelift. The SUV might get dual-tone alloy wheels. However, we can make out from the image that it gets squared wheel arches.

At the rear, the facelifted SUV will get re-designed tail-lamps, updated bumper along with other minor changes. Furthermore, it will be sharing its platform with the 2020 Mahindra Thar and Next-Gen Scorpio. The cabin of the TUV300 Plus will be completely redesigned. The top-spec model will get a new touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multi-function steering wheel with mounted controls among others.

However, the biggest change on the TUV300 Plus Facelift will be the BS6 compliant engine. The BS4 iteration of TUV300 was powered by a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. The mill delivered 100 bhp power and 240 Nm torque while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox along with a 5-speed AMT transmission as an option. It is still not clear if the facelifted version of TUV300 Plus will get the same diesel motor or not.
