Maruti Suzuki has given a safety upgrade to the Eeco mini-van in the form of a passenger side airbag in the Indian market. This inclusion of the passenger side airbag has resulted in a price hike of Rs 8,000. Maruti Eeco price starts from Rs 4.33 Lakhs and goes as high as Rs 5.68 Lakhs (Both the prices are Ex. Showroom, Delhi). Currently, the Eeco mini-van has got no direct rival in the Indian market. We expect Maruti Suzuki to give similar safety upgrade to the other budget cars in its portfolio which presently come with passenger airbag as an option.

Besides making the passenger side airbag as standard in the entire Eeco range, Maruti Suzuki has not made any other changes. With this new upgrade, it now complies with the latest safety norms introduced by the Indian government for all the passenger vehicles on sale which makes dual front airbags compulsory from January 2022. For all the newly launched cars, it has come in place from April 2021. The company had added several safety features in the Eeco mini-van nearly three years back in 2019 in the form of Driver airbag, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Rear Parking Sensors. It also received safety upgrades in order to meet the frontal offset crash regulations.

Though features majorly available in the mini-van are basic with manual AC, power steering and power windows. Under the bonnet, Maruti Eeco has a 1.2L G12 petrol engine which develops maximum power output of 73 bhp and peak torque performance of 98 Nm. The mini-van can also be availed with a factory-fitted CNG kit where the power output and torque delivery reduces to 63 bhp and 85 Nm, respectively. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard across all the trims.
