One of the biggest luxury car manufacturers, Mercedes-Benz, has discontinued the seven-seater Mercedes-Benz GLB in India. The seven-seater SUV was officially launched in India in December 2022. It didn’t garner a larger fan base, but the brand was sure that this model would gradually become a hit in the market. The SUV did manage to achieve decent sales figures for the company.

Mercedes-Benz GLB Launch and Pricing Details

The entry-level Mercedes-Benz GLB reached Indian shores through the CBU route from the brand’s manufacturing plant in Mexico. It was available at an ex-showroom price of INR 63.8 lakh. The auto giant owns the largest fleet of luxury cars in the Indian market, including both ICE and electric models. The Mercedes-Benz GLB was offered in a total of three trims: 220d 4MATIC, 200 Progressive, and 220d AMG Line 4MATIC.

Mercedes-Benz GLB Design and Features

The Mercedes-Benz GLB sports a boxy and rugged look, and it is placed between the GLC and the GLA models. Under the hood, the three-row GLB SUV came equipped with two engine options: a 2.0-litre diesel and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine. The former was mated to an 8-speed AT unit, while the latter was mated to a seven-speed DCT gearbox unit.

In March 2023, Mercedes-Benz updated the GLB SUV with a new grille, bumper, and feature list. However, this version was not revealed in India. Interestingly, the German marque has retailed all the GLB units that were destined for the domestic market. The Mercedes-Benz GLB was one of the most affordable luxury SUVs in the country, and it gave tough competition to SUVs like the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
