Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2024 GLA facelift in India with a few cosmetic tweaks and an updated powertrain. The updated GLA is the most affordable sports utility vehicle in the company’s portfolio. It is now available at an introductory price of INR 50.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV comes in three variant options: the GLA 220d 4Matic, the GLA 200, and the GLA 220d 4Matic AMG Line.

Inside the cabin, the revised GLA gets a new 3-spoke steering wheel, twin screens with the brand’s latest MBUX infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and on the dashboard, it gets an illuminated star pattern trim. The automaker has redesigned the centre console and added more storage space.
The new GLA will be retailed in two trims: Progressive Line and AMG Line. The Progressive Line will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options, while the AMG Line will be retailed only with the diesel unit. The new GLA facelift comes equipped with updated features like Active Park Assist with a 360-degree camera, a hands-free tailgate, Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Pedestrian Protection, and Adaptive High Beam Assist. The GLA 220d 4Matic comes with the off-road engineering set as standard.

When it comes to safety features, the GLA gets 7 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, run-flat tyres, Active Brake Assist, and more. The GLA AMG Line comes with a unique roof spoiler, front grille and bumper, diamond grille, AMG rear apron, a diffuser, and twin exhaust tips. The Progressive Line has 18-inch alloy wheels, while the AMG Line rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.
Under the hood, the Mercedes-Benz GLA facelift is available in two engine options. The GLA 200 is powered by a 1.3-litre, inline four-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit that churns out a bhp of 161 and a peak torque of 270 Nm. The engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch AT transmission, and it can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.9 seconds. The facelift gets a certified fuel efficiency of 17.4 kmpl.
The GLA 220d 4Matic comes equipped with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that churns out a max power output of 187 bhp and 400 Nm. The unit is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch AT gearbox. The 2024 GLA can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.5 seconds with the help of this engine. The certified fuel efficiency numbers of the diesel and petrol engines are 17.4 km/l and 18.9 km/l, respectively.
