JSW MG Motor India announced a few months prior that it plans to bring back the 'Maruti Moment' in India. The company seems to be halfway there, as it has been developing new models for the Indian market. Recently, the auto marque started the deliveries for the much-awaited Windsor EV in the country. If reports are to be referred to, MG Motor has delivered 101 units of the all-new electric vehicle in a single day. The MG Windsor units were delivered to Bangalore. Just ahead of the Diwali festival, the auto giant has received bookings for 15,176 Windsor units in just 24 hours.
What sets the new MG Windsor apart from other passenger vehicles in India is its Battery as a Service (BaaS) option, which is not available in any other PVs. With this battery service option, the MG Windsor EV will cost you INR 10 lakh along with a battery rental cost of INR 3.5 per km.
Meanwhile, buyers who want to purchase the fixed battery setup will get this EV at a starting price of INR 13.50 lakh, and it goes up to INR 15.50 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom. The MG Windsor crossover currently has a waiting period of three months. It is being offered in three variants: Exclusive, Excite, and Essence. In its segment, the newly launched MG Windsor rivals the likes of the Punch EV, Mahindra XUV400, Tata Nexon, and more.
On the feature front, the MG Windsor EV comes equipped with a range of comfort amenities incorporating a panoramic glass roof, a reclining rear seat, a nine-speaker Infinity audio system, automatic climate control, wireless charging, and more. The 2024 MG Windsor is packed with a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 8.8-inch digital instrument console. The infotainment screen provides controls for air conditioning and lighting.
Under the bonnet, the Windsor EV draws power from an electric motor that is tuned to produce power of 134 bhp and peak torque of 200 Nm. It is loaded with a 38 kWh battery set that provides a certified range of 332 km on one charge. MG Motor offers the Windsor with a 45 kW DC fast charger, which enables the car to be charged from 10-20% in just 55 minutes.
