Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former skipper of the Indian cricket team, has added a 1971 Land Rover Series 3 Station Wagon to his prestigious car collection. He bought this vintage SUV by participating in the online auction of vintage cars by Big Boy Toyz. It is not a hidden fact that MS Dhoni already has a massive collection of some of the finest cars and bikes in his garage which includes Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, Yamaha RD350, Confederate Hellcat X32, BSA Goldstar, Harley-Davidson Fatboy, Kawasaki Ninja ZX14R, and Kawasaki Ninja H2.
The 1971 Land Rover Series 3 Station Wagon is one of the most iconic SUVs of the era of 70s and 80s. Painted in a yellow shade, it used to come with multiple engine options ranging from a 2.3L 4-cylinder petrol to a 3.5L 8-cylinder V8 unit. The gearbox choices on offer were a four-speed manual transmission and a 2-speed manual transfer case. However, the exact engine specs of the unit purchased by Dhoni are not known yet. The Series 3 Station Wagon was highly popular between 1971 and 1985 as the company sold more than 4.40 Lakh units of the same. The virtual auction of the SUV was held at the headquarters of Big Boy Toyz in Gurugram last month and the cricketer won the auction.
