MV Agusta, the Italian bikemaker who is renowned for its high-performance superbikes had decided earlier this year to enter the low displacement motorcycles. To achieve this, the company decided to forge a venture with Loncin Motor Company, a Chinese motorcycle manufacturer in July 2019.
The company’s CEO Timur Sardarov said in an interview, “MV Agusta is entering the biggest relevant market in the world, which is 350cc to 500cc. We are coming up with a new 350cc engine, we have it, it’s a twin. So, we are going to have a two-cylinder 350cc. MV Agusta is going to embrace more lower displacement, high performance, in its technology.”
A part of the venture will produce four new bikes in the 350cc to 500 cc category. As per the reports, the first product to be born out of this venture could be a 350cc twin-cylinder engine. But it is not clear whether the engine would be a parallel or V-twin engine. We can expect this engine to bring alive several MV Agusta bikes, possibly a new ADV bike.
These 350 cc bikes would be designed by MV Agusta but will be manufactured by Loncin Motor Company. The bikes could have aggressive styling and offer punchy performance. The bikes would be the most affordable model in the entire segment. The bikes would be sold in China under the brand name of Voge.
The 350 cc bikes are likely to be shown at EICMA 2020, followed by its launch in 2021. However, for the Indian market, the bike would arrive as CKD route (completely knocked down) that would raise its price.
