In a bid to expand its product lineup in India, Nissan is gearing up to launch the premium Ariya electric SUV in the market. The automaker unveiled the Nissan Ariya EV globally in 2020. The SUV was also spotted testing in the country last year. Reports indicate that the e-SUV is likely to reach the Indian shores as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). It will be based on the Nissan Alliance’s CMF-EV platform.
In the brand’s electric SUV lineup, the upcoming model will be placed a step above the X-Trail, which was recently unveiled in India. Nissan India is all set to launch the X-Trail SUV on August 1, 2024. The brand will only bring 50 units of the Ariya EV to India. The upcoming Nissan Ariya will rival the likes of the Kia EV6 and Hyundai IONIQ 5.
Nissan Ariya EV Specifications
In terms of design, the Nissan Ariya EV is expected to retain the same style statement as the outgoing model. The electric vehicle comes equipped with a decent-sized piano black panel at the front that features the slim LED headlight setup, followed by the V-shaped LED DRLs. In addition, the Ariya EV features a coupe-like roofline and a ‘design’ shield. In some markets, the SUV also gets an illuminated Nissan logo. The e-SUV rolls on either 19-inch or 20-inch wheels, depending on the market and trim.
Inside the cabin, the Ariya e-SUV houses two large 12.3-inch screens with almost no physical buttons. The dashboard features multiple charging sockets for both front and rear passengers. As standards, the higher variants of the SUV also feature a heads-up display followed by a Bose audio setup. Additionally, the Nissan Ariya EV comes equipped with other notable features like an e-pedal, a ProPILOT 2.0 driver assistance system, an in-built Alexa assistant, autonomous driving technology, a 360-degree camera, a wireless charging port, forward collision warning, dynamic guidelines for emergency braking, and more.
The Ariya electric vehicle comes in three variants with two battery setups: 63 kWh and 87 kWh. The former produces a maximum power output of 214 bhp and a peak torque of 300 Nm, whereas the latter generates a maximum power output of 302 bhp and 600 Nm of peak torque. The 63-kWh battery set provides an overall range of 513 km on one charge; on the contrary, the 87-kWh battery offers an overall range of 513 km on one charge.
