With the Indian goverment pushing the automobile industry towards a green future, electric vehicles are being considered as one of the most important products for the Indian car market. Majority of the carmakers in India are getting ready for the green future developing environment friendly electric and hybrid vehicles. One of them is Nissan which is planning to launch the Leaf in India.
The Japanese carmaker currently has no electric or hybrid car in their India lineup and they are considering to launch the new Leaf EV here by April 2019. The Leaf is a hatchback with huge dimensions powered by an electric motor that produces a peak power output of 150 PS with 320 Nm of torque. It has a battery pack of 40 kWh.
With a single charge, the Leaf has a total range of 400 km. The battery takes 8 hours to charge fully with regular charging while fast charge is also available that can charge the batteries to 80 percent in 40 minutes. The Nissan Leaf will be imported to the Indian market via CBU route and is expected to be priced around Rs. 30 lakhs.
