Piyush Arora has been announced as the new Managing Director (MD) of the Volkswagen Group India. Famous for his stint at Mercedes Benz India as Executive Director and Head of Operations, he will succeed Gurpratap Boparai while assuming the role from March 1, 2022. Being the MD of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL), Arora will look after the operations of five Volkswagen Group brands namely Skoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini. The major focus will be on the expansion of business in the Indian market.
In this year, Skoda and Volkswagen will finalize the rollout of the India 2.0 project with Skoda Slavia and an all-new Notchback from Volkswagen. Moreover, exports will also start from India to various countries. Piyush Arora has been an integral part of the automotive industry for the last three decades. Being a mechanical engineer graduate from Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur (IIT Kanpur), he did an International Business Diploma from Symbiosis International University in Pune. Arora started his career with Tata Motors before joining Mercedes Benz and serving at several senior positions.
