Royal Enfield's steady rise to prominence in the Indian two-wheeler, as well as International markets, is one of the biggest success stories in the last decade or so. Royal Enfield brand history is rich, it’s often called "the oldest global motorcycle brand in continuous production". Production began way back in 1901 and is going stronger as ever with new models arriving this year. Royal Enfield bikes are a popular choice due to the engine quality and the classic retro design. It’s not just the stock Royal Enfield motorcycles that are in huge demand, modified ones are a raging hit too. Some of the modified Royal Enfield bikes are stunning, to say the least. We came across a unique customized trike based on Royal Enfield Thunderbird X with a reverse gear.
Usually, Royal Enfield 650 Twins are often the preferred choice for automotive designers but a Thunderbird 500X is out of the box selection. Recently, a YouTube channel MotoMahal uploaded a video showcasing a customized Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X which had been modified by Jaggi customs. The key aspect of the modified Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X is the inclusion of a reverse gear and three wheels. Talking about the reverse gear in particular, this is a more practical approach considering that the rider will not have to phyically push the vehicle backwards. Further it will assist in easy manuevering of the three-wheeler in confined and norrow places with the help of a gear lever.
Moving forward, the trike comes with a host of other changes. The most significant one being the rear that now offers a new set of alloy wheels, modified swing arms and an axle that features a disc brake with a sprocket right in the middle. For a better riding posture, Jaggi Customs has added a footboard upfront. Apart from these modifications, mechanically the motorcycle remains the same as before. Thus the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X comes equipped with a 500cc air cooled engine that is capable of producing a maximum power output of 27.20 bhp @5250 rpm and a peak torque of 41.3 Nm @4000 rpm. Transmission duty is handled by a 5-speed gearbox. We believe that it took the custom house around 4-5 months for the completion of this project as they have also applied for a patent.
