Famous for superb acting in movies such as ‘Haider’ and ‘Jab We Met’, actor Shahid Kapoor is a known auto enthusiast. Now the most recent addition to his garage is the BMW R1250 GS, the German maker’s bike is famed for its ADV capabilities and is often termed as one of the best ADV bikes out in the market by many. The German mean machine is priced at an eye-watering Rs. 18.25 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The Bollywood star revealed his newest purchase through a post on Instagram where the actor was seen with the bike and a caption that read “a bike lover gone mad”. This new purchase comes close to the heels of two other bikes bought by the Haider star that included a Ducati Scrambler 1100 and a BMW G 310R.
BMW R 1250 GS has the distinct BMW design that separates the German brand’s bikes from other alternatives out there. The fairing on the ADV is quite chunky and the mudguard on front wheel is a unit clinging to the wheel with its other part attached to the visor just below the headlamp. The photo of the bike posted by the Bollywood star showed the German ADV in classic BMW’s blue and white shades with red accents. As we have already mentioned, the Bollywood star earlier bought BMW’s entry level offering G 310R in India and had termed it perfect for Mumbai traffic, the smaller bike is also in the same shade. Coming back to the BMW R 1250 GS, the German ADV has advanced features such as different riding modes, ABS, dynamic traction control and suspension compensation Dynamic ESA, and dynamic brake assist.
Talking about the mechanicals of the BMW R1250 GS, the German ADV is powered by a 1254 cc boxer engine rated to deliver 138 PS at 7,750rpm and 143Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. As is the case with high-end ADVs, this bike also has spoked rims with dual purpose tyres on them and the ADV also has a single-side swingarm. The German maker offers an HP sports exhaust for the bike that has no impact on the warranty of the bike at all.
As far as other features of the ADV are concerned, the beemer has a 6.5-inch TFT screen as the main console that displays a variety of information that is vital to the rider. The console also comes with smartphone connectivity options to access the features of the phone on the console itself. Just like other ADVs, the German bike here is also a hefty bike weighing in at 249 kgs. As has already been stated, it is a famed adventure-tourer that has a strong fan following all over the world.
