Skoda Auto India has introduced the automatic version of its famous Kushaq Onyx mid-size SUV in the Indian market. The automaker is offering the Skoda Kushaq Onyx automatic at a price of INR 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The new trim is now the most affordable automatic car in the segment, and it is positioned between the outgoing Active and Ambition variants. Skoda launched the Kushaq Onyx in March 2023 with manual transmission. The standard manual version was based on the feedback Skoda received from its customers. Now, the company has unveiled the automatic version of the mid-size SUV after receiving huge demands from customers.

The Skoda Kushaq Onyx automatic retains exterior elements from the outgoing Kushaq Ambition variant. It comes equipped with the brand’s signature Crystalline LED headlights with DRLs (daytime running lights), a rear wiper, and cornering fog lamps. The Kushaq Onyx AT rolls on 16-inch alloy wheels that feature wheel covers.

Inside the cabin, the automatic version is loaded with several notable upgrades, such as paddle shifters, hill hold control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, chrome accents, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, tyre pressure monitoring, and auto climate control. For safety, the car gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, six airbags, traction control, ESC, and hill start assist. Under the hood, the Kushaq Onyx AT mid-size SUV is powered by a 1.0 TSI turbo-charged three-cylinder petrol engine. The unit generates power of 113 bhp and 178 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Skoda Kushaq mid-size SUV was first launched in July 2021 under the India 2.0 project. It has already received a five-star rating in the GNCAP (Global New Car Assessment Programme) crash tests for both child and adult occupant protection. The SUV is based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which was specially designed for the Indian market.

Commenting on the launch of the new Skoda Kushaq Onyx automatic variant, the Brand Director at Skoda Auto India, Petr Janeba, said, “The Onyx variant has been a key addition in our line-up combining the value of the Active trim with features from the higher variants. This new Kushaq Onyx offering is in response to feedback from our customers, which points at a healthy demand for an automatic variant at a more accessible price point. In fact, our value proposition makes this Kushaq the most affordable automatic in its entire segment. Offering a hassle-free ownership experience, getting closer to our customers and constantly listening to our customers is our endeavour, and a key part of our growth strategy”.
