The Skoda Kylaq, a compact SUV, has emerged as the safest in its class, outperforming its rivals in the Bharat NCAP test.

The Skoda Kylaq, a sub-4 meter SUV, has emerged as the safest car in its class. It has left behind similar cars like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, and Nissan Magnite in safety.

The car testing experts decided to evaluate Kylaq's Prestige MT model and subject it to rigorous evaluations under the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP) in December 2024.

This program evaluates their safety performance in frontal-offset and side-impact crash tests which ensures both adult and child occupants are well-protected.

Skoda Kylaq Crash Test Results

The Kylaq's Prestige MT variant underwent rigorous testing under Bharat NCAP, India’s safety assessment program. The Bharat NCAP evaluates vehicle safety using frontal-offset and side-moving deformable barrier tests for adult and child protection.

The ratings are applicable for Signature and Signature+ variants also. The Kylaq scored excellently:

Adult occupant protection: 30.88/32 points

Frontal offset barrier test for adults: 15.035/16

Side-moving deformable barrier test for adults: 15.84/16

Child occupant safety: 45/49 points

Frontal offset barrier test for children: 16/1

Side-moving deformable barrier test for children (1.5 and 3 years): 8/8

Child seat assessment: Full score

CRS (Child Restraint System) installation score: 24/24

Vehicle Assessment: 9/13

The Kylaq is also the first Czech car to be tested by Bharat NCAP which establishes Skoda’s commitment to safety in India.
