Leapmotor, the Chinese startup EV manufacturer, has announced its launch in India through a joint venture with Stellantis. Stellantis is the parent company of automobile brands like Jeep and Citroën and is a global automotive giant.

The exact electric car models have not been confirmed, but Indian buyers can expect the launch of Leapmotor T03 (a small electric hatchback) and the Leapmotor C10 (an electric SUV). These cars are likely to hit Indian roads by June 2025.

About Leapmotor company

Leapmotor is headquartered in Hangzhou, China, and was founded in December 2015 by Fu Liquan and Zhu Jiangming. The brand launched in March 2017 with the vision of making green mobility technologies accessible to everyone.

Stellantis holds around a 51% stake in Leapmotor International and will lead the operations for exporting, selling, and likely manufacturing its vehicles outside of China. Leapmotor and Stellantis’s EV plans for India

India is part of the second phase of Leapmotor's global expansion after the initial rollout in Europe and other regions. Leapmotor will use Stellantis' established global sales and service network to build customer trust and provide post-sales support in new markets like India.

The launch may happen within the first half of 2025 and will likely be phased. The Chinese electric car maker is expected to launch these vehicles in India:

Leapmotor T03: It's a compact electric hatchback with a 37.3 kWh battery capacity and around 265 km of range. It may compete with models like the Tata Tiago EV and Citroën eC3 in India.

Leapmotor C10: This is an electric, family-oriented mid-size SUV with a 69.9 kWh battery capacity and nearly 477 km of range. It could rival with MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric, and upcoming models like the Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti eVX in India.
