One of India’s biggest electric vehicle charging solutions providers, Tata Power Renewable, announced that it has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, Tata Motors Ltd., on September 12, 2024. The new partnership has been formed to deploy up to 200 fast charging stations for eCVs (electric commercial vehicles) across all Indian metro cities, incorporating Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.

This strategic partnership is formed to provide better sustainable mobility solutions in the form of 1000 new fast chargers. Both companies are working on offering easy and fast charging infrastructure for compact electric commercial vehicles. As part of this initiative, Tata Power and Tata Motors are going to offer exclusive charging tariffs for Tata’s eCV owners, which will result in increased profitability and lower operating costs for customers.

The Vice President & Business Head – SCV&PU at Tata Motors, Vinay Pathak, said, "We’re pleased to strengthen our partnership with Tata Power to transform the electric commercial vehicle landscape by ensuring ease of access of fast chargers at convenient locations across the country. It has been our endeavor to not only engineer and manufacture world class electric vehicles but also help develop the necessary ecosystem to democratize the use of these eco-friendly and emission-free vehicles. This partnership will also explore avenues to maximize the use of renewable energy to make electric vehicle operations greener.”

In the Indian market, Tata Motors sells the Ace EV, which is the country’s most advanced small electric commercial car. The Ace EV can be charged using around 150 Electric Vehicle Service Centres across India. It comes equipped with ‘Fleet Edge’ telematics and a high-tech battery management system.

Under the EZ Charge brand name, Tata Power has expanded its charging network to 5,500+ public, fleet, and semi-public charging points, over 1,00,000 home chargers, and 1100+ bus charging points across 530 towns and cities. These Tata Power chargers have been set up at different and accessible locations, including hotels, highways, complexes, malls, offices, hospitals, residential, etc.
