Volkswagen India Delists the Old Tiguan Before New R-Line Launch

The old Volkswagen Tiguan has now been removed from the official Volkswagen India website. This is likely due to the launch of the new Tiguan R-Line.

The European engineering and solid-built SUV Volkswagen Tiguan is now delisted from the official website. The first Volkswagen Tiguan came to India in 2017, and now it has been replaced with a new variant.

The recently launched Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line has now replaced the old Tiguan. The old one was available in a single variant only with a price tag of Rs. 38.17 lacs.

The price of the new Tiguan is not confirmed yet it is expected to sell around Rs. 50 lacs. The old Tiguan competes with cars like the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass, etc.

Details about the delisted Volkswagen Tiguan

The old Tiguan Elegance is a well-built SUV with a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, which is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine. The car gives a power output of 187 bhp and 320 Nm of torque.

It is also equipped with an extensive safety suite, which has ABS with EBD, ESC, TCS, rear-view camera and more. The interior also looks impressive and comfy with a digital cockpit, smartphone connectivity, 3-zone climate control, etc.

Details about the new 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line

The new Volkswagen Tiguan is entering the Indian market as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and will likely be priced at around ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model has an upgraded, sportier design and an enhanced powertrain.

Sources suggest it delivers 201 bhp of power and 320 Nm of peak torque with a 4MOTION all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

Another launch: Volkswagen Golf GTI

The April 2025 launch of the Tiguan R-Line is followed by the launch of the sporty and agile hatchback Volkswagen Golf GTI. The new Golf delivers 269 bhp of power and 370 Nm of maximum torque. 

This car is also entering India as a CBU and is going to be sold exclusively online.
