Toyota Kirloskar Motors is finally making its debut in the highly competitive compact SUV segment in India with the Urban Cruiser. Urban Cruiser's introduction is the result of a partnership between Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Kirloskar Motors. Toyota Urban Cruiser is basically a rebadged version of the Maruti Vitara Brezza. This is the second Toyota model to be born out of the unique product sharing agreement between Maruti Suzuki and the Japanese automaker’s Indian arm. Earlier, Toyota launched the Glanza hatchback which is based on Maruti's Baleno. The Urban Cruiser's bookings are believed to commence by August-end with the launch scheduled for the festive season. The SUV rivals the likes of Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Ford Ecosport and interestingly Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
As we await the official launch of Toyota Urban Cruiser, Indian AutoBlog designer gave us something interesting to ponder upon. They carried out a digital imagining of the Toyota Urban Cruiser as a sportier TRD Sportivo. It looks majestic, to say the least, and Toyota could do nothing worse than taking an astute look at the digital rendering of subcompact SUV. Design-wise, upcoming Urban Cruiser won’t be much different from Vitara Brezza. Released teaser images so far have provided a hint that the Urban Cruiser's front radiator grille is different from Brezza. Further, the digitally rendered SUV will feature a sportier bumper and the Red TRD badging on the grille. The front will also house new fog lamps giving it a more imposing look.
In addition, TRD Sportivo insignia has been added to the front doors while one can observe red accents on its body cladding. Looks are further complimented by the presence of six-spoke alloy wheels. These wheels seem to be inspired from the 2019 Toyota Fortuner TRD Edition. Performance wise, we could expect a 1.5-litre petrol engine to power its four wheels. This is the same engine that propels the Vitara Breeza.
