Maruti Suzuki in partnership with Toyota Kirloskar Motors has given us cars like Toyota Glanza and Toyota Urban Cruiser. It is likely that the two companies might consider adding another one to their list anytime soon. In that context, Toyota India is planning to discontinue its Yaris sedan from the Indian market. As per a media report, the automaker could be replacing it with a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Not many details have been revealed about this development. However, we can expect the rebadged Maruti Ciaz coming out from Toyota’s stable to get subtle cosmetic changes. The front fascia will be revised in order to differentiate it from Ciaz.

Currently, Maruti Ciaz is offered in four variants - Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. Talking about the Toyota version, we can expect it to come in fewer trim levels. Besides this, the new rebadged model will be offered with a better standard warranty. As of now, it has not been decided whether the replacement of Yaris will carry a new nameplate or not. The upcoming Toyota sedan will be manufactured in the same factory as the one where Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is manufactured.

Performance-wise, it will be powered by the same 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder mild-hybrid petrol engine that is present in the Ciaz. The unit further will produce 103 bhp power and 138 Nm peak torque.  Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
