Volkswagen India has launched the new Taigun GT Plus Sport and GT Line variants in the Indian market. The new variants are now part of Volkswagen’s latest Sport line trim. The auto marque first unveiled these models at the Volkswagen Annual Brand Conference 2024, held in March. The Taigun GT Line, powered by the 1.0L TSI engine, is available at a price of INR 14.08 lakh (ex-showroom), whereas the Taigun GT Plus Sport comes at a price of INR 18.53 lakh (ex-showroom). Additionally, the brand is offering the Taigun GT Plus Sport variants with a complimentary 4-year Service Value Package (SVP) for a limited time.

The Taigun GT Plus Sport and Taigun GT Line trims roll on 17-inch alloy wheels and feature black sport-themed design language. The SUVs come equipped with new smoked LED headlamps, a red-finished GT badge, a Carbon Steel Grey roof, dark chrome door handles, and brake calipers.

Inside the cabin, the new models feature black leatherette upholstery along with a gloss black dashboard, red stitching, aluminum pedals, GT badging on the front headrests, and a black headliner. The Sport steering wheel comes with red stitching, which is bejeweled by a roof lamp housing, blacked-out grab handles, and sun visors.

Powering the Taigun GT Plus Sport is a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces peak power of 148 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Taigun GT Line draws power from a 1.0-litre TSI engine tuned to produce power of 113 bhp and peak torque of 178 Nm. Both units are mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, and an AT transmission is also available.

The Taigun GT Plus Sport and GT Line variants come loaded with amenities like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch all-digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an engine start/stop button, connected car tech, paddle shifters, ventilated front seats, USB charging ports, ambient lighting, a powered driver seat, a sunroof, ESC, six airbags, ABS with EBD, TPMS, and more.

Volkswagen recently disclosed its goals to strengthen its dealership network across India. The company plans to grow from 193 sales locations in 2023 to 230 by 2024. Additionally, the number of service touchpoints will rise from 142 to 150. By the end of 2024, the brand will have expanded to a total of 170 cities.
