Volvo has rebranded its XC40 electric SUV as EX40 in India, marking a significant change in its Volvo EV Range. Meanwhile, the EX40 sits under the C40 electric crossover in the Volvo EV Lineup 2024 for the Indian market. With the name change, the Swedish automaker has increased the price of the EX40 to around ₹1.5 lakh.

Volvo EX40 price and availability information
The EX40 electric SUV is currently priced at ₹56.10 lakh (ex-showroom), which is a premium over the previous XC40 Recharge, which was sold at ₹54.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Though the stock of the XC40 Recharge is still available for some time, the EX40 by Volvo in India Workload is an offering for entry-level electric vehicles and is expected to be accepted. The name change aligns with Volvo’s global strategy, with other models such as the EX30 and EX90 already adopting the EX prefix. Additionally, the C40 electric crossover will soon be named EC40.
Volvo EX40 Features and Performance
The Volvo EX40 has many improvements over the XC40 Recharge, including a new rear-wheel-drive system. It packs a 69 kWh battery with a range of 475 km on a single charge. The 11 kW charger can fully recharge the battery in about seven hours. The EX40 also supports DC fast charging, allowing a full charge in just 34 minutes.
Amazing power and speed
An electric motor is mounted on the rear axle of the EX40, producing 238 hp and 420 Nm of torque. This allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h (with electrical limits).
