2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift rivals the likes of 2020 Ford Endeavour, MG Gloster and Mahindra Alturas G4 in the SUV segment. With the new updated version, Toyota plans to augment its market share in the segment. The real question is what’s the key difference between the standard Fortuner and Legender variant in terms of design, features and engine options. Lets' take a look:

The biggest distinction between the Standard and Legender trims is the front profile. At the front, the standard model comes with the large grille with chrome side-lines. On the other hand, the Legender model flaunts split grille with piano black sidelines. Not only the front grille, but several other elements such as front bumper, fog lamps housing and the bash plates are different in design in both the grades. Plus, the LED headlamp designing is different on Standard and Legender SUVs. The 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift is available in eight colour options -- Phantom Brown, Super White, Attitude Black, Avant-Garde Bronze, Grey Metallic, Silver Metallic, Pearl White Crystal Shine and the new Sparkling Black Crystal Shine. The Fortuner Legender is available in a single Pearl White colour with a contrast black roof. The Legender trim rides on split-five-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels while the Standard model sports split-six spoke single shade wheels.

Talking about the cabin upholstery, the standard Fortuner comes in Black and Chamois colors while the Legender variant is available with a single dual-tone Black and Maroon theme. The top-end standard Fortuner trims come loaded with a premium 11-speaker audio system while the Legender packs in a 6-speaker speaker. In terms of features, Legender comes loaded with bells and whistles like the rear USB charging port, gesture-operated electronic tailgate, wireless smartphone and ambient cabin lighting. On the other hand, the standard Fortuner model comes packed with features like ventilated front seats and electronic locking Rear differential (diesel 4X4 variants), multi-functional steering wheel, new 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.


Toyota Fortuner Facelift Vs Legender- Engine Options

2021 Toyota Fortuner retails with two engine options- 2.7-litre petrol and a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel. Petrol powertrain belts out 164 bhp of maximum power output and 245Nm of peak torque while the diesel unit belts out 201 bhp of power output and 500 Nm of peak torque. The peak torque drops down to 420Nm with the manual transmission variant. The petrol variants are sold with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic unit while the turbo diesel retails with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The four wheel drive option is also available with the diesel variants. The Legender variant is sold in only diesel fuel trim with just RWD system. 


Toyota Fortuner Facelift Vs Legender- Safety Features


Toyota Fortuner Legender comes with a host of safety features like 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) with BA (Brake Assist), Hill Assist Control, Traction Control System, ISOFIX child seat anchorages and Front Row Seatbelts with Pretensioner. On the other hand, safety equipment onboard the standard Fortuner facelift are 7 airbags, lane departure warning system, 360-degree camera view, dynamic cruise control and 360-degree camera among many others.

Toyota Fortuner facelift price starts from Rs 29.98 Lakhs (ex-showroom) with the top-end variant retailing at 37.43 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The Legender is available only in a 4x2 AT diesel trim at price of Rs 37.58 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
