Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India is a 100% subsidiary of Honda Motor Company based in Japan. Honda entered the Indian market in the year 1999 after it entered into a partnership with Hero MotoCorp. After a decade of the successful joint venture, both the companies parted ways in 2010 and thus led to the birth of two competing forces in Hero MotoCorp & Honda Motorcycle & Scooter.

Hero is the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the world whereas Honda became the manufacturer with the widest portfolio. After the breakup, Honda went on to become a huge success as its range of Activa models became the best-selling two-wheeler in the country as of 2017. Honda is active in all the segments and manufactures a wide range of two-wheelers in India – pioneering both bike and the scooter segment.

Honda has four production facilities located in Gurgaon, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Gujarat respectively. The manufacturer offers 21 new Honda bike models which cover all the categories including scooters, bikes, sports bikes and even cruisers. The new Honda bike models have contributed significantly to Honda’s newly found success in the Indian market. The manufacturer is well-known for its sales and services which reaches the remotest of areas. As for its presence in the bike and scooter segment, it emphasises on 110-125cc scooter segment along with a mass 110-180cc motorcycles and 250cc premium motorcycle segment.

One of the most successful motor scooters in India – Honda Activa is priced at INR 62,000 whereas the most successful budget bike – Honda Unicorn 150 is priced at INR 83,000. There is a huge difference between these bikes and the flagship CB1000R which is priced at INR 14 lakhs considering the price after GST.
