Datsun car models have been discontinued in India
Launched after a 30 years hiatus in 2012, the Datsun brand has been resurrected by the parent company. Datsun is among the most popular car brands with original production dating back to 1930s when the automobile company first started. Between the uber-successful periods of 1958 to 1986, excellent car models were launched in the form of 510 sedans, 240Z and Fairlady coupes. Datsun’s story started long before the 1950s. Initially, Kaishinsha Motorcar Company produced trucks due to the low demands for their car models which were released under the name ‘Dat’. Success arrived when it collaborated with Jitsuyo Jidosha, and together they started making 500cc cars wherein the ‘Dat’ became ‘Datsun’.
Coming back to the current market, New Datsun car models have been instrumental in uplifting the image of the manufacturer in the Indian market. With entry-level cars, Go and Go+, Datsun’s attempt at making a name for itself has been successful. However, Datsun cars in India face stiff competition from market leaders in Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Honda. Despite the models being sold at a highly competitive rate, the models are not on par with competitors regarding popularity. Nonetheless, with the introduction of Datsun redi-GO, the manufacturer has seen an ascension in sales. Unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo, the launch of redi-GO has had a massive impact in the Indian market. With its introduction, Datsun managed to get a foothold in the fiercest segment – Mini crossover.
The entry level Datsun car models offer several best-in-class features that make it appealing. Evolutionary exterior design coupled with a new platform and affordable pricing make it invaluable. Datsun car models are popular for its trademark red-coloured body and its compact proportions. The car models have a decent ground clearance and are treat for people who often prefer the tough roads.
