Ducati has introduced a new variant of its Scrambler, the Desert Sled, at ₹9.32 - 9.45 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the motorcycle are open and deliveries will start next week.

In addition to the Desert Sled, Ducati has also updated the Scrambler range for BS-IV compliance. They are priced from ₹7.23 lakh (Icon) to ₹8.48 lakh (Classic).

While the ‘Icon’, ‘Classic’ and ‘Full Throttle’ variants of the Scrambler only differ cosmetically, the Desert Sled gets more serious alterations. It has a modified and strengthened chassis, long-travel suspension and higher ground clearance, which makes it better for off-road duties.

It is powered by a Euro 4 compliant, 75hp 803cc, two-cylinder engine; the same unit that’s found in the Scrambler and the new Monster 797. However, the engine has been tuned for smoother power delivery.

The bike’s chassis has been toughened, and the swingarm has been reinforced to take the extra beating from rough terrain. It also has a longer wheelbase, more suspension travel (200mm, 50mm more than the regular Scrambler).

The standard bike’s 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels have been replaced with 19/17-inch setup, which are, again, better suited for tackling the rough stuff. The bigger wheels have increased the ride height, but for shorter riders, Ducati will Offer lower seats as an option.

Styling updates come in the form of taller mudguards, a headlamp mesh guard, gold finished wheels and a sturdier USD front fork.
