KTM has finally taken wraps-off its 890 Duke. The motorcycle will replace the 790 Duke in the brand’s product lineup. The 2021 KTM Duke 890 will go on sale in the global market in the next couple of months. We can further expect the bike to enter the Indian market by the end of this year. As for the price, expect it to cost around Rs 9 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The new 890 Duke will be positioned below the 890 Duke R, which in turn is a more powerful variant. It was introduced early last year. In terms of design, the bike retains most of the features from its predecessor like an LED headlamp, LED taillight, fuel tank design, and seat. The only differentiating feature is the new paint scheme with new body graphics. Talking about the colour options, it will be offered in Black & Orange. Instead of the orange-coloured frame as seen on the other KTM bikes, the motorcycle features a blacked-out frame. The seat height on this upcoming bike is 5mm lower in comparison to its predecessor. Other feature highlights include a 6D lean angle sensor with IMU assist and nine-stage traction control.
Mechanically, the 2021 KTM Duke 890 is powered by an 889cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine. The motor churns out 115 bhp @9000rpm and 92Nm of peak torque @8000rpm while being paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine further comes with a two-way quick-shifter as standard fitment. Suspension duties are handled by WP Apex 43mm USD forks upfront and gas-assisted mono-shock towards the rear. The bike also features multiple ride modes - Rain, Street & Sport. Once launched in the global market, the new Duke 890 will rival the likes of the Triumph Street Triple R and the Ducati Monster.
