Bajaj Auto has finally launched the Freedom 125 CNG motorcycle in the Indian market at an introductory price of INR 95,000 (ex-showroom). The two-wheeler giant has also opened bookings for the 125-cc commuter. The company has achieved a significant milestone with the launch of the world’s first-ever CNG motorcycle. Although CNG cars have been in India for over a decade, this is the first time this technology has been integrated into a bike.

The new Freedom 125 runs on both petrol and CNG. Riders can switch between the two fuels by pressing a button placed on the left side of the handlebar. The two-wheeler giant is aiming to target commuters who are looking for a fuel-efficient model. The Bajaj Freedom, with its dual-fuel setup, is expected to reduce operating costs in comparison to other petrol-only motorcycles in the segment. The Bajaj Freedom will be offered in three different variants: Drum LED, Drum, and Disc LED.

Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG Specifications

The Bajaj Freedom CNG bike features a commuter-like design, and it gets elements like boxy body panels, a fuel tank, and a front fender. The CNG-powered motorcycle is equipped with an LED headlight, optional knuckle guards, LED indicators, and daytime running lights (DRLs). It sports a long single-piece seat that overlaps the fuel tank for better comfort.

The Freedom 125 has other design elements like a tyre hugger, an upswept exhaust, and a saree guard. The CNG cylinder is positioned below the petrol tank. The petrol tank equipped with the bike has a capacity of 2 litres, while the CNG tank’s capacity is 2 kg. The auto giant claims that the bike can accelerate up to 213 km on a CNG tank, whereas a petrol tank provides a range of 330 km, adding an extra 117 km.

The 125-cc commuter features a circular headlamp along with a DRL, flat seat, centre-set foot pegs, and wide handlebar. It has a semi-digital instrument console along with many indicators, including a neutral gear indicator and a CNG low-level alert.

Powering the Bajaj Freedom CNG is a 125-cc single-cylinder air-cooled CNG/petrol engine. The motor generates 9.4 bhp of power and a peak torque of 9.7 Nm. It is mated to an X-speed gearbox. For active suspension, the motorcycle features a telescopic fork with a monoshock and fork gaiters. It sports drum brakes on both ends, followed by an optional disc brake for the front. Braking duties are done by a combined braking system (CBS).
