BMW Motorrad, one of India’s leading two-wheeler makers, has launched the new R 12 nineT Roadster in the Indian market. The motorcycle is available at a price of INR 20.20 lakh (ex-showroom). The brand-new R 12 nineT roadster belongs to BMW’s heritage bike line-up and comes equipped with a robust powertrain and new design elements. The BMW R 12 nineT rivals the Triumph Speed Twin in its segment.

The all-new BMW R 12 nineT bike sports a retro design that enhances its overall appearance. The motorcycle comes equipped with amenities like a boxy aluminum tank, single-sided pulley-style twin exhausts, clear-coated side panels, and spoke wheels. The R 12 nineT has a boxer-twin engine that has protruding cylinder heads, which are its main attraction.

BMW is offering the R 12 nineT bike with several electronic features, including a keyless ride system, traction control, engine drag torque control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, cornering ABS, and three riding modes. The two-wheeler giant is also offering the optional Comfort Package, which packs additional features like Shift Assistant Pro, heated grips, Hill Start Control Pro, and cruise control.

The BMW R 12 nineT Roadster draws power from a 1,170cc, air/oil-cooled engine that is tuned to produce 109 bhp of power at 7,000 rpm and peak torque of 115 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The motorcycle has horizontally placed cylinders. With a tubular steel frame, the motor is not only lighter but also gives the bike a cleaner look. It has 17-inch wheels suspended by 45mm USD forks and a paralever swingarm with a directly linked spring strut. Braking duties are handled by a set of 310 mm discs and a 265 mm rotor.
