Ford Ecosport will soon be sold in Argentina. It will replace the now discontinued made-in-Brazil version. The SUV manufactured at Ford’s Chennai plant has been exported to various international markets like the USA and Mexico for a decade. Talking about the Argentina-bound model, it will look similar to its Indian counterpart. However, it will be available in left-hand drive layout. Furthermore, the company is planning to stop the production of Ecosport and a few other models at its Brazil plant. As for the price, the made-in-India Ford Ecosport falls in the range of Rs 8.19 lakh - Rs 11.69 lakh (ex-showroom). There are speculations that the SUV could get major updates later this year.
Cosmetically, the Ecosport features a large grille with chrome slats. The muscular bonnet gives it a bold look. In addition, it gets adjustable headlights with DRLs and a wide air dam. Moving on to the sides, the SUV is flanked by roof rails, indicator-mounted ORVMs, and blacked-out B-pillars. The rear end boasts of wrap-around LED tail lights and a window wiper.
Inside the cabin of the Ecosport, it comes equipped with a plethora of features. These include a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with the latest connectivity options, a power steering wheel with cruise control, auto climate control among many others. The safety kit of the 5-seater SUV comprises multiple airbags, traction control, ABS with EBD, rear view camera, crash sensors, and engine immobilizer.
Performance-wise, in Argentina, the Ecosport will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that churns out 121 bhp power and 149 Nm peak torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT gearbox.
