Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) announced that it has bagged a significant milestone of 6 crore domestic sales in the country. The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer sold a total of 458,711 units, recording an 86 percent YoY sales surge in February 2024. In February last year, the company sold 247,195 units of motorcycles and scooters. The brand was established in 1999, and since then it has seen continuous growth.

The Japanese auto marque set foot in the Indian market in 2001 with the Honda Activa, and as the years passed, Honda expanded its product range to include both scooters and motorcycles. The Activa was produced at Honda’s manufacturing facility in Manesar. Honda commenced exporting its models from India to overseas markets in 2002. In 2004, the company unveiled the Unicorn motorcycle, which entered the 150-cc bike segment. In India, the brand currently owns three outlets: Red Wing, BigWing Topline, and BigWing.

Honda registered 1 crore unit sales in India back in 2012. The brand then achieved the 5 crore local sales mark in 2021, and now it has reached the 6 crore figure in 2024.

The MD, President & CEO at Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, Tsutsumu Otani, said, “We are happy to announce that HMSI is now a family of over 6 crore happy customers. Achieving this sales milestone is a testament to the trust and confidence that Indian consumers have placed in brand Honda.
