Husqvarna has taken the wraps off the 2024 edition of the Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 250 motorcycles. India is the first market to get the new editions of these two bikes. The Swedish motorcycle maker has launched the Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 at a price of INR 2.19 lakh (ex-showroom), whereas the Svartpilen 401 comes bearing a price tag of INR 2.92 lakh (ex-showroom). Although the 250 Huskies were already available in the Indian market, the automaker has now introduced its first 401 series bikes.

The new Vitpilen 250 and Svartpilen 401 motorcycles share their underpinnings with the outgoing next-generation KTM 250 Duke and 390 Duke, respectively. Both of these motorcycles are made-in-India and exported to international markets as well. When it comes to design language, the new Svartpilen 401 looks different from its orange variants.

The Svartpilen 401 comes with a side-mounted exhaust instead of the underbelly unit equipped in the previous model. The automaker has also replaced the back tyre hugger with a proper tail tidy. The 2024 Svartpilen 401 retains the trellis frame and a new rear subframe from the 3rd-generation KTM 390 Duke. It is powered by a new 398.6 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 46 bhp at 9,000 rpm and a peak torque of 39 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The unit is mated to a six-speed gearbox and a bi-directional quickshifter. The Svartpilen 401 comes equipped with features like Type-C charging, ride-by-wire, traction control, a 5-inch TFT screen along with Bluetooth connectivity, Supermoto ABS, and more.

Suspension duties on the motorcycle are done by an adjustable USD at the front and a monoshock at the back; both are sourced from WP. The braking hardware consists of 320 mm disc brakes up front and 240 mm rear, along with twin-channel ABS as a standard. The 2024 Svartpilen 401 has a 13.5-litre fuel tank, and it weighs about 171.2 kg.

2024 Husqvarna Vitpilen 250

The 2024 Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 is powered by a 249-cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor that can churn out 30.57 bhp at 9,500 rpm and peak torque of 25 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Suspension duties on the motorcycle are handled by 43 mm USD forks up front and an adjustable monoshock at the back. The braking power in the new bike comes from a 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm disc at the rear with twin-channel ABS. It comes equipped with features like ride-by-wire, a new 5-inch LCD screen, a quickshifter, switchable ABS, and Type-C charging.

The Vitpilen 250 motorcycle has the same underpinnings as the KTM 250 Duke. The Vitpilen gets a unique look thanks to its distinctive styling with the circular LED headlamp with DRL, a grey paint scheme, and a flat-panel fuel tank cover. The side and trail panels have now been replaced as one unit, in place of the split panels equipped in the previous model.

The motorcycle gets a new single-piece seat, a new fluorescent stripe, and copper-bronze finishing on the engine cases. The 2024 Vitpilen 250 has also slightly grown in proportion, which will give it an enhanced road presence. The ground clearance on the motorcycle has gone up by 25 mm to 177 mm, whereas the seat height has decreased to 877 mm from 907 mm. The seat is now 100 mm in length, whereas the Vitpilen 250 gets a bigger 13.5-litre fuel tank instead of a 9.5-litre unit. Its kerb weight stands at 163.8 kg, which is slightly less than its predecessor. Husqvarna says that the motorcycle comes with a better weight distribution and an updated gearbox.

The Svartpilen 401 will rival the likes of the Yezdi Scrambler and Royal Enfield Scram 411 in the two-wheeler segment. The Vitpilen 250, on the other hand, will give tough competition to the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and KTM 250 Duke.

Husqvarna will start exporting the 2024 Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 250 from its dealerships by the end of this month. The automaker has over 400 KTM-Husqvarna dealerships across India. Both motorcycles will be available with a 2+3-year warranty along with a service interval of 7,500 km.
