The leading automobile giant JSW MG Motor India marked the festival of Dhanteras by delivering 100+ electric cars in one go in Delhi-NCR. During Dhanteras, the company saw the sale of more than one hundred ZS, Windsor, and Comet units, demonstrating that the demand for EVs is increasing in India during this festival season. Recently, MG hit the landmark of delivering 101 Windsor EVs at an event in Bangalore.

The brand has claimed that this month over 15,176 bookings of the newly launched Windsor electric vehicle were made in one day, making Windsor the first passenger electric car in the country to achieve the record. The Comet EV had a slow start in India, but with time, the car gained popularity among Indian buyers. It is also the nation’s most affordable e-car. The Comet draws power from a 17.3 kWh battery set that enables the car to run 230 km on a full charge.

On the other hand, the MG ZS EV is also now maintaining stable sales growth in the country. The brand retails around 600 units of the ZS EV every month. The MG ZS EV draws power from a 50.3 kWh battery pack that provides a certified range of 461 km. With the Windsor EV, MG Motor India became the first car manufacturer to offer the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model in India. Notably, the battery cost is subtracted from the price of the car; the preliminary costs can also be lowered.

In India, Windsor EV is available for INR 9.99 lakh onwards, and the rental battery is available at INR 3.5 per kilometre. At the moment Tata Motors is in a leadership position, commanding five electric vehicle incorporations featuring Tiago, Nexon EV, and Tigor. MG Motor is all set to recreate the Maruti Moment in India with its upcoming electric models, boosting EV adoption in India.
