MG Motor, a British automotive brand, is all set to expand its Indian lineup with a range of models that will be unveiled in the Indian market in the coming years. The EV maker has recently filed a design patent for the Wuling Binguo electric vehicle in India. The sub-4-meter electric hatchback is currently on sale in China, and it was also unveiled in Indonesia last year. The hatchback is manufactured on the GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) platform. The brand’s most affordable passenger vehicle, the Comet EV, is also built on the same platform. Recent patent images hint that MG is planning to bring this model to India, and if that happens, it will compete with the Tiago EV.
The MG Wuling Binguo has a circular silhouette followed by curved surfaces and simpler-looking wheels. The electric hatchback features blacked-out pillars, wraparound LED taillights, and X-shaped daytime running lights. In terms of dimensions, the EV measures 1,708 mm in width, 3,950 mm in length, and 1,580 mm in height, which makes it slightly bigger than the Tata Tiago EV.

Inside the cabin, the MG Binguo comes equipped with a twin-tone color scheme, a twin-screen setup for instrumentation and infotainment, and a two-spoke steering wheel. In international markets, MG offers the Binguo with two powertrain choices: a 37.9 kWh battery or a 31.9 kWh battery. The former is paired with a 68 bhp motor that offers a certified range of 410 km, while the latter features a 41 bhp motor, offering a range of 333 km. The EV also comes equipped with a DC fast charging system.
As of now, MG has not made any official announcements about the launch of the Binguo EV in India. However, JSW MG Motor India, a joint venture between JSW and MG Motor, has made it clear that they will be launching several electric models in the country in the coming years, and the Binguo EV is anticipated to be the next MG offering for the domestic market. If the brand decides to launch this hatchback in India, it is likely to be placed between the ZS EV and the Comet EV in the company’s portfolio.
