In a bid to expand its SUV lineup in India, Skoda Auto is gearing up to launch the Kylaq compact SUV in the Indian market in the first half of 2025. In India, the Kylaq SUV will be the third SUV from the brand. According to reports, the upcoming Skoda compact SUV will be based on the MQB-A0-IN architecture. In its segment, the new Kylaq will rival the likes of the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
The Czech automaker has been planning to enter the rapidly growing Indian compact SUV market for years. The brand has now finally revealed its plans to roll out the Kylaq compact SUV as part of its new strategy. The Kylaq compact SUV has been witnessed several times on Indian roads. The spy shots of the upcoming Skoda car have also been shared by the brand, revealing key features and design elements. According to Skoda, the name 'Kylaq' is based on the Sanskrit word 'crystal', just like the popular Kushaq SUV, which derives its nomenclature from the ‘emperor’.
Skoda Kylaq Specifications
The 2025 Skoda Kylaq compact SUV will come equipped with split LED projector headlamps with a new LED daytime running light, inverted L-shaped LED taillights, and a clear lens setup for the tail lamp. The spy shots of the Kylaq SUV showcase that it will receive a single-pane electric sunroof. However, only the higher variants of the SUV are expected to feature the sunroof.

Skoda is expected to offer the Kylaq compact SUV in a wide range of exterior color schemes, of which the red paint option will only be offered on the exterior of the SUV. The Kylaq compact SUV will also feature other design elements like roof rails, a shark-fin antenna, a slightly raked C pillar, and more. The registration plate on the upcoming compact SUV would be placed at the centre of the tailgate and not at the bumper. The SUV is expected to come loaded with safety features like a 360-degree camera, some ADAS capabilities, climate control, and more.
Under the hood, the upcoming Skoda Kylaq SUV will draw power from a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI petrol engine that is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The brand will also offer a torque converter unit with the SUV. The unit can churn out a peak power of 114 bhp and a maximum torque of 178 Nm.
