The next generation of Yamaha R3 is under development and now, the patent images of the upcoming Yamaha R3 have emerged online. This bike gets a sporty and sharper design from the present R15 Version 3.0.
The front panel now houses an air-intake between the twin LED headlights. The fuel tank is completely redesigned and cut-outs are provided on both the sides of the tank. The redesigned side fairings continue to sport the Yamaha’s signature gills. However, the rear tail section, alloy design and exhaust muffler remain unchanged.
However, to keep the pricing low, the USD fork might get replaced with the conventional forks for the Indian market. The braking setup will be carried forward with dual-channel ABS as standard. Powering the new R3 will be the same 321cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine which is mated to a 6-speed gearbox that churns out 42 HP and 29.6 Nm of torque. However, the slipper clutch will be an addition to the next-gen R3.
The global revealing of the bike is scheduled at the 2018 EICMA but the arrival of this bike to India is expected to be somewhere around later 2019. The price of the new R3 will be slightly more than the current model, which is available at Rs. 3.49 lakhs (ex-showroom).
