About Skoda

Skoda Auto India Pvt. Ltd is a subsidiary of Volkswagen – the number one automaker in Europe. Skoda, though, was launched nearly 150 years ago, it worked on developing arms and not cars. It has started off with manufacturing bicycles, and in the year 1991, Skoda became the fourth brand of the VW Group. Skoda is backed by the investments and expertise from VW. Both Skoda’s design and engineering with the help of Volkswagen have reached new heights. Skoda has completed a decade in India after entering the Indian market in the year 2002. The first Skoda car introduced was the Skoda Octavia, and the model is still active in the India market albeit timely modifications. However, there is complacency over how the model is still the same since its introduction. Octavia’s early success led to the launch of Estate and Combi version which didn’t succeed in the Indian market.

Skoda’s flagship car – Superb was first introduced in the year 2004. However, it was the facelifted model in 2009 which grabbed many eyeballs. Similar was the case with Skoda Laura, which was first launched in 2005 and later got a fresh look in 2009. One of the popular hatchbacks Fabia also known as rally racing car was launched in 2008. It was one of the unique hatchbacks which used to compete with sedans. The Czech automaker has 70 dealers in 50 cities throughout the country. World-class build and safety features are the highlights of every Skoda car model.

The company is quite busy in building new models and at the same time rebuilding the older ones. The performance of the cars made by the company are absolutely stunning which has helped its SUV Kodiaq bag the Car of the year award. The company is also planning to launch electric cars that would debut in the year 2021.

Skoda cars price differ based on the segment. However, unlike other top brands which have models in each segment, Skoda only focuses on sedan and SUV segment as of now. Entry-level Skoda Rapid is priced between INR 8.3 to INR 13.6 Lakh. Similarly, flagship model Superb is priced between INR 24 Lakh to INR 31.4 Lakh. Price after GST might differ from what has been mentioned.
