Premier car models have been discontinued in India
Premier Ltd. is an automobile manufacturing company based in Mumbai. Formerly known as the Premier Automobiles Limited, the company is owned by the Walchand Group. The company was first established as a distributor and manufacturer for Chrysler motors and produced models like Plymouth cars and Dodge trucks; as these were negotiated from the company in the year 1941 which led to its establishment. The car was inspired by Sir M. Vishweswarayya; Walchand received support from him, and that led to the formation of Premier Ltd. in 1947. Currently, the company has two operations Engineering and Automobiles and has its headquarter based in Mumbai, India.
The brand manufactured Indian trucks and cars which rolled out on the streets of free India. When we talk about the new Premier car models, Premier Rio is one of the two models which has been launched in recent times. Rio too is significant as it is the first compact diesel SUV in India.
Over the years, Premier has played a crucial role in shaping up the Indian automobile history. Not just production, it has actively participated in assembling as well. Premier has assembled some of the well-known models in the automobile history such as Peugeot 309, Fiat Uno, Fiat 1100, Dodge Kingsway, Plymouth Savoy and Plymouth Belvedere. If we talk about class premier car models, Padmini inspired from Fiat 1100 and Padmini 118NE derived from Fiat 124 is the highlight from the Indian automobile company. The manufacturer also launched Sigma – compact diesel MPV which was further bifurcated into Lifeline, Express, School Van and Tourist Van models.
The company is looking forward to making a comeback in the Indian automobile industry and has launched a car named Rio in the Indian market. According to the stock market reports, the company seems to be performing at a survival state. The company is also planning to merge with Pand autos, a China-based manufacturer with a view to boosting its production and sales in the coming time.
Rio is one of the new Premier car models which has been discontinued recently. During its active years, it was priced at INR 4.7 Lakh to INR 6.7 Lakh. However, the only option left now is to buy a used car model. A used Premier Rio is available on online portals which make it quite affordable.
Indian Auto Industry is probably seeing its best days as sales boost historically. The main highlight is the record-breaking export sales of passenger vehicles. The growth is supposed to stay positive with favorable Union Budget 2025 and rising demand.
