Mahindra & Mahindra, which is well known for its SUVs in India, has confirmed 5 new SUVs in the CY2026. The lineup, which has 3 new ICE and 2 new BEV cars, shows the brand's strategic focus on expanding its SUV dominance.
The company is also revealing a new platform on this Independence Day, which is a multi-powertrain platform with support for both ICE and EV models. The five car launches are:
Mahindra XEV 7e (previously XUV.e8)
The Mahindra XEV 7e, previously known as the XUV.e8, is the production version of the XUV.e8 concept, which is an electrified XUV700. It is based on the XUV700's platform but uses the company's dedicated INGLO EV platform.
It is expected to be larger and offer EV-specific touches, possibly a triple-screen setup, a new twin-spoke steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and advanced ADAS features. The top-spec is expected to feature an 80 kWh battery and offer both 2WD and AWD configurations.
Mahindra Thar.e
This is the electric version of the famous off-road SUV ICE Thar. The Thar.e concept was globally unveiled on August 15, 2023, at Mahindra's Futurescape event in Cape Town, South Africa.
It is built on Mahindra's new dedicated INGLO EV platform (P1 platform for off-roaders). It is expected to be a 5-door version and retains the rugged design but with a futuristic, more rectilinear and modular EV aesthetic.

Its design is very similar to the Scorpio-N's front fascia and cabin, but comes with a distinct pick-up bed. The Global Pik Up Vision Concept was globally unveiled on August 15, 2023, at Mahindra's Futurescape event.
Next-gen Mahindra XUV500
This compact SUV is positioned between the XUV3XO and XUV700 and aims to offer a bold and modern design. The new XUV500 is expected to be a 5-seater and built on a modern front-wheel-drive platform.
Mid-life Update for the XUV700 (possibly XUV 7XO)
This facelift of the XUV700 is expected to feature revised exterior styling, including a connected LED headlight setup, a redesigned front grille, sharper lines, and potentially squared-off wheel arches.
The initial XUV700 was launched in August 2021. The company has filed a trademark for "XUV 7XO," which indicates the potential rebranding for this facelift.
