Aprilia is getting its second scooter ready for India. The SR125 will sit below the impressive SR150, and will launch in a few months. The scooter is reportedly undergoing homologation at ARAI at the moment.
It shares a lot of its design elements with its bigger brother, the SR150 - the twin-headlamp on the front cowl, 14-inch wheels shod with fat rubber, snazzy paint schemes and decals that are inspired from the manufacturer’s Moto GP bikes. At the back, it gets split grab-rails just like the one on the SR150. The only way to really tell that the bike features a smaller engine is its ‘125’ badging.
Its 125cc engine could make 9.4hp and 8.2Nm, and will be paired with a CVT automatic gearbox. The smaller SR’s engine will be derived from the motor that does duty in the VespaSXL and VXL 125s. Apart from the engine, hardware for the scooter is likely to be shared with the SR150.
The SR150 retails for Rs 68,806 (ex-showroom, Delhi), so, expect the SR125 to be even more competitively priced.
