Mumbai-based start-up, Artem Energy Future Pvt Ltd, has given us a preview of its first electric scooter,
the M9. The company refers to it as the ‘safest electric scooter’ to go on sale in India. The M9 is fitted
with an ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), which uses cameras and radar to alert the rider.
The scooter features emergency braking, applied through EDB (Electro-Dynamic Braking), which uses
reverse traction force to help the bike alter its speed effectively. When there’s an accident, the M9 will
send emergency messages and calls to five preset numbers.
Rajit Arya, CEO of Artem Energy Future, also added that electric vehicles will continue to pollute for now
since they rely on electricity from coal-powered plants. The company, to sort this problem, is planning to
build solar-powered battery-swapping infrastructure that can be fitted in places like petrol bunks, where
owners can swap batteries and run their vehicles using clean energy.
The bike can hit a top-speed of 90kph and can hit 50kph in 6sec. The M9 offers a range of 100km per
charge. You also get an onboard fast charger.
