The company started its India journey with the introduction of the W124 E-class in 1995, and it has now crossed an important production milestone –its 1,00,000th car for the Indian market has rolled out of its plant at Chakan in Pune.

The car produced to cross the landmark is a long-wheelbase E-Class. The company hit the 30,000-unit mark in 2010, and the 50,000 unit mark in 2014. From there, it made 50,000 more in four years to cross the 1,00,000 unit mark. The company has been on an aggressive product offensive and increased its production capacity from 10,000 units to 20,000 units a year, in 2015.

The company’s Chakan plant makes the CLA, C-class, E-class and S-class Sedans, in addition to the GLA, GLC, GLE and GLS SUVs, as well as the Maybach S 560 limousine.
